Changing default file extension association

Windows 95:

Open "My Computer", select View => Options => File Types.
Find the program association and Edit it removing the undesired extension from "Default Extension for content type"

Windows 3.x

Open File Manager
Select the file
Select from the menu: File => Associate
delete the association for the program
