If using TASK 3.5 (or ASPAN 4.6), if having a recent HardLock Key (shipped after 6/97), if installing under Windows 3.1, Windows 95 or Windows NT: NO problems.

Here follows an extensive explanation for all possible cases.

Windows 3.x, 95, NTNO problems, these programs may be installed and runin all standard PCs: 4886, Pentium and Pentium II; the printerport may be set as the user wishes: Standard, EPP or ECP.
HardLock type Program Operating System TASK2 ......... TASK 3.5 ..... Windows 3.x, 95, NT ASPAN3 ........ ASPAN 4.6 .... Windows 3.x, 95, NTSometimes need some files to be sent from us. After that:NO problems as above.

The information here enclosed may be useful for solving hardlock key problems.

***ASPAN3 or TASK 2 (DOS) HardLock Key and ASPAN 3.2 or TASK 2.0 (DOS)***These keys where designed for old 386 PC's when Windows 3.1 didnot already exist. Some new computers (all Pentium, some 486) have a Parallel PrinterPort that are not fully standard (Bi-directional, EPP, ECP).This may lead to some problems in reading our old ASPAN3 or TASK2 keys. The suggestion if problems such as "Error Reading Data from the key"or "HardLock Not Found" are encountered are:1) Set the PC BIOS mode for the parallel port as Standard or SPP.2) If you have a Printer or some other hardlock key, remove everything from the Port and leave only the ASPAN3 or TASK2 key.3) If problems persist, check if the Parallel Port installed in your computer is correctly installed (I/O base address and IRQ).4) Try running ASPAN3 from a Windows DOS prompt.5) If problems persist, the only way to let ASPAN run is to install a secondary Parallel Printer Port. This Port must be a Standard Parallel Port (not Bi-directional, not EPP not ECP). It must be installed in order to avoid hardware conflicts (I/O base address and IRQ) with the first Port.
***ASPAN3(DOS) HardLock Key and ASPAN 4 (Windows)***These keys where designed for old 386 PC's when Windows 3.1 didnot already exist. Some new computers (all Pentium, some 486) have a Parallel PrinterPort that are not fully standard (Bi-directional, EPP, ECP).This may lead to some problems in reading our old ASPAN3 or TASK2 keys.We have found a work-around for ASPAN4 or TASK3 programs. The suggestion if problems such as "Error Reading Data from the key"or "HardLock Not Found" are encountered are:1) Set the PC BIOS mode for the parallel port as Standard or SPP.2) If you have Windows 3.1 set the Printer port as "Standard", not "Quick Print Access".3) Run ASPAN4 or TASK3 (double click on the ASPAN4 or TASK3 icon) several times. After some unsuccessful attempt, ASPAN or TASK3 should correctly run.4) If you have a Printer or some other hardlock key, remove everything from the Port and leave only the ASPAN3 or TASK2 Key.5) If problems persist, please check if the Parallel Port installed in your computer is correctly installed (I/O base address and IRQ).6) If problems persist, we will send you some files (we need to know your HardLock SNo, HardLock Date, complete ASPAN4 version (example ASPAN 4.05 p0)). If you install "ASPAN: SERVICE" (TAST: SERVICE) instead of "ASPAN: INSTALLATION / UPDATE" from ASPAN4 disks Set or "TASK: INSTALLATION / UPDATE" from TASK3 disks Set , run "Service Sheet", print and Send to us, we will be able to get all the information.7) If problems persist, the only way to let ASPAN run is to install a secondary Parallel Printer Port. This Port must be a Standard Parallel Port (not Bi-directional, not EPP not ECP). It must be installed in order to avoid hardware conflicts (I/O base address and IRQ) with the first Port.
***ASPAN4 or TASK3 (Windows) HardLock Key and ASPAN 3 or TASK2 (DOS)*** ASPAN4 or TASK3 Keys only work with ASPAN4 or TASK3 (Windows) programs. ASPAN3 or TASK2 (DOS) program will never work.
***ASPAN4(Windows) or TASK3 HardLock Key and ASPAN 4 or TASK 3(Windows)programs*** No problems known.
