program: all
When you install an AutoSoftware program in Windows NT, the Setup will install the HardLock driver.
In order to install the HardLock driver, the user must log-in in Windows NT as the Administrator.
This is required, because the standard user has not the right to update the Operating System configuration or install new drivers.
So the quickest solution is to log-in as the Administrator and then run the Setup.
A further solution is to manually install the hardlock drivers:
in the AutoSoftware CD you should have it: \INSTALL\PATCH\hldrv32.exe
Anyway the user must log in as the system administrator before installing the drivers.
The latest version of the HardLock drivers can be found at:
http://www.autosoftware.it/support/hldrv32.exe
Here some general information that should be useful.
- You must be the System Administrator in order to install the first copy of ASPAN. This is because ASPAN installs some drivers (HardLock Drivers) in the system configuration.
- Before running the setup program, exit from all applications; if you are in a network environment any user connected to the PC that you are using for installation, should exit from any application.
- If you already have some other program using any kind of HardLock Keys, be sure they are not executing. See the StartUp folder too.
- manually install the hardlock drivers: run \INSTALL\PATCH\hldrv32.exe and follow the instructions
- run the Setup
- now you can log-off NT and then log-in as a normal user.
If you have a new program and a new hardlock, there should be no other problems.
If you are using an old ASPAN 3 (DOS) hardlock key, you will have to do some more operations. See
"NT and 'error reading key data'" .
